Dental Implants San Jose CA dentist Dr. Cooper wants to share the general costs of dental implantation and supplemental procedures that patients are inquiring about on a consistent basis.
Although it is almost impossible for us to give out dental implant costs without a consultation, we will do our best to give you the best estimate in this article. First of all, if patients are not aware, severe damage to the jawbone or gum tissue can result in elevated expenses atop the actual dental implant procedure cost. Fortunately for patients that have neglected to take care of their oral cavity, there are supplemental surgeries that Dr. Cooper offers to help them qualify for dental implantation.
When patients neglect to chew or bite with certain areas of the mouth that happened to be missing teeth, they actually continue to damage the tissue. Although it makes sense to avoid using these regions due to discomfort or pain, the tissue in the mouth needs the movement and exercise to keep healthy for the patient. This tissue can ruin to the extent of disappearing altogether in which they would be scheduled a soft tissue augmentation by Dr. Cooper. This is simple procedure in which the dentist will either extract excess tissue from the roof of the mouth or use tissue from cadavers. The general cost that patients are looking to spend will range from about $600- $1,200 depending on the amount of tissue needed. Out of the two supplemental procedures, this is the least taxing and requires the shortest healing period of about 2-3 days. It is important that patients follow the dentist’s directions regarding drinking, eating, sleeping and exercising for at least a few weeks.
Severe damage from gum disease, alcoholism, smoking, or oral neglect can result in the destruction of the jawbone. This is not only just an unattractive sight, but significantly restricts patients from either qualifying for dental implants or ever regaining decent oral health. Someone that is suffering from this will be scheduled a bone graft procedure which is basically a bone tissue transplant where the dentist replaces the fractured or damaged bone with new and healthy osseous tissue. Patients have a few options regarding the location of bone needed: they can use their own excess tissue from the roof of their mouth, healthy cow bone, or cadaver bone is offered. If the cadaver or animal bone is chosen, the patient is looking at $200- $1,200 for just a single area, if they choose to use their own bone from the hip, shin, chin, or back lower jaw, the price can range from $2,000- $3,000 or more depending on how much bone is needed.
This procedure generally requires 3-6 months to heal from, in order for the new bone to naturally integrate into the patient’s mouth gradually. Sometimes patients will need X- Rays of their mouth, which will add to the total cost by $60- $250 or CT scans can range from $250-$1,000. If the patient needs this procedure done as a result of a physical accident or medical illness or condition, their health insurance may be able to finance these procedures.
As we mentioned early, it is nearly impossible to give patients a specific price for their process without a consultation with Dr. Cooper, however we have promised to give a guesstimate. So far, say the patient suffered from severe jawbone devastation and lacked the correct amount of gum tissue and decided to have their own extracted, along with the jawbone from the cadaver: they are looking at expenses of about $3,800 to $4,200. Taking care of our teeth while we still have them definitely pays off in the long run, and although this may look pricey from the outsider’s perspective, having this done once instead of choosing dentures that require replacement from every 5-10 years, patients save thousands with dental implants. As far as the most general estimate for dental implantation, we guessed from $1,000 to $4,000. Dr Cooper works with several insurance providers that help patients afford these important procedures, call us today to find out if we work with yours!
