Even though coffee isn’t the greatest drink for your teeth, it’s still a delicious nectar. If you’re like most people, you can’t get through your morning without a cup of Joe. Today, we’re going to pick our local reviews back up to talk about a coffee house in San Jose. There are lots of good coffee houses in San Jose, but at Contemporary Dental Arts, our absolute favorite is Voltaire Coffee House.
According to the story on their website, Voltaire was an 18th-century French philosopher, who was keen about coffee. According to the lore, he drank over 80 cups of coffee a day, until he passed away at the ripe age of 83 years old. Maybe coffee played some integral part in his intellectual capacity to express his complex thoughts. Or maybe all that coffee is the reason he lived so long.
Voltaire is a relaxing, bright, and comfortable coffee shop in downtown San Jose with drinks and food that will knock your socks off. Beyond their menu items, they’re a responsible coffee shop in that they try to use organic products and make sustainable efforts to take care of the environment and the customer’s well-being.
They source their own beans, and they have their own roasting machine. This way, they know that their coffee comes from a responsible source, where the workers are treated fairly. They also cut out the need to outsource their roasting, which probably explains why their coffees are so reasonably priced. You can get a hot Americano for only $3.
Their menu is eclectic. They have drinks that will satisfy the sweetest of teeth, as well as traditional coffee drinks, for those who like their coffee black or with a little milk. The coffee at Voltaire is the perfect elixir for a productive day. Unlike most trendy coffee houses, their beans don’t taste over-roasted or burnt.
They have a specific slightly acidic taste that is simultaneously relaxing and energizing at the same time. I haven’t tried it, but a little bird told me that their Spanish lattes are a force to be reckoned with, especially if you prefer your coffee to have a bittersweet tinge to it. Their creative latte art makes sitting in their café to catch up with old friends more of an entertaining experience, than a dull routine. You never know what latte art you’ll get surprised with at every visit.
Beyond their coffee, they also serve tasty organic Belgian waffles that are so good you can smell them from down the street. This waffle tastes like it was made on Odin’s waffle iron. The sweetness of the waffle pairs well with a nice hot cup of coffee. The staff at Voltaire is always hospitable, eager to answer any questions, and serve you in a timely manner.
Go support a local business by imbibing at Voltaire Coffee House on Market Street. You can learn about many different ways of brewing and consuming coffee. Their cold brew drippers are neat, and you can even purchase some of their brewing contraptions on their website.
